Kale Recipes: Kale Chips

Have your kids cook some kale chips to go with the family's dinner!

  1. Wash a bundle or two of fresh kale, and have your children RIP IT into big pieces. Fun!

  2. Put all the pieces onto a baking sheet, and drizzle with olive oil. Using their hands, have your kids swish and massage it all together, until every piece is lightly coated with the oil.

  3. Sprinkle lightly with salt, or try another variation with other spices (curry, taco seasoning, etc...) and pop the kale into a 400 F oven.

  4. Bake for about 7-10 minutes, watching it closely. When it is dry and crisp looking, remove from the oven and serve in a bowl. (**Watch it very closely right at the end. It is a fine line between being deliciously crispy versus burned.)

Grown-up's review:

"This is a very fast and very easy kale recipe to prepare with my kids' help, and makes a great snack. It gets them interested in the process of cooking, and the results are truly delicious! This is a case of something tasting much better than it looks or sounds. These are a fun change of pace, and I like serving them with grilled burgers and hotdogs."

Kid's review:

"If they weren't burned ones, they were pretty good. Kale! Kale with balsamic vinegar! Just kidding. I loved 'em."
